He moves steathly through the Death Star, being extra careful not to alert it's owners to his presence. He knows that if he's caught he's probably done for, as he's seen first hand what awaits the Horsemen inside the massive space station. The planantir is pretty handy, but can you ever really trust what Darkseid is willing to show you? In any case, the mission is clear. The Infinity gems need to be taken off the board to insure the Horsemen victory. Stolen, destroyed, whatever. The main thing is that Thanos cannot be allowed to harness the power of all six. 

He decides to start with the red one, since if it controls energy and power it should be able to nullify the others if needed. He can feel the heat radiating from the Human Torch and begins to sweat. He withdraws the mini EMP and throws it, knowing he'll only have a few precious seconds to get the gem and fully put Jim Hammond out of commission. He rushes in to the room-stabbing the unmoving body of the Torch right between the eyes, feeling a little remorse as it's not a living being he's killed. 

It's then that he makes his mistake. He whispers "I'm sorry" to the lifeless body as he begins pressing on the Torch's hands to find the gem. It's something he doesn't think twice about, as he's seen his larger role in this battle. He didn't count on the super hearing of Kingdom Come Superman, who bursts onto the scene, and snaps the intruders neck before he even has time to process the wind on his face.

KC Supes hits the comm system in the room "It's done." he says gravely, taking no pleasure in what he's just done.

"Excellent. The LMD is on the way, already programmed. Make it look like there was a struggle so we can make the switch without raising their suspicions. I have other matter to attend to, and a betrayal to prepare for."
