Darkseid's Horsemen of Apokolips Vs. Brock Sampson's Fighting Murderflies

Darkseid's Horsemen of Apokolips are Shazam, Mary Marvel, Pedro Pena, Eugene Choi, Capt. Marvel Jr., Darla Dudley, Ganondorf (w/ The Infinity Gauntlet, Power, & Time Stones), Black Lantern Apocalypse, Black Lantern Supergirl, He-Man & Battle cat, Kamek in a Landspeeder, & Chittari Leviathon #3A

Brock Sampson's Fighting Murderflies are Thor, Dormamu, Voltron, Paul Maud Dib, Alia Atreides, Count Glossu Rabban, Duke Leto Atreides, Tllaloc, Scytale, Korba the Panegryst, & Chester Cheetah in a M-1 Abrams Tank, Bene Gesserit Reverend Mother #1-10, Hrethgir #1-18, Sardakaur #1A, Blight, Hun-Gurr, Ravage, Rippersnapper, Twinstrike, & Windrazor, Sue from The Copper Door on a 3 Wheeler, Colleen on a 3 Wheeler, & Munk.

Hot, dry, and dangerous describe every aspect of this Hellish landscape where these two powerhouse squads get ready to square off.  For an entire generation, yes twenty years have I watched the epic battles and struggles of The Fantasy Fantasy League unfold.  Many things have changed; but many are as they have always been.  Ideas come and go becoming a thing of legend but so many of them come full circle and return to exactly as they once were.  Even now as I prepare myself atop a rocky pass, I recall the many times I have visited Arrakis for this very mission.  I watch two squads prepare themselves for not only a battle to the death amongst one another; but a battle for survival against the elements themselves.  The familiar, nay unforgettable nostril stinging sensation of the spice melange, cinnamon building exponentially in a nasal passage so very opened by the stinging sensation, yet still filling lungs gasping for breath in the thick air of the planet the natives call Dune.  This is not a battlefield that has settings amongst settings.  Simply one area with both squads anticipating a fight, so that this Hellish landscape can be escaped from one way or another.  Two teams that once again spring forth memories of a league that still exists but by some has been forgotten and yet by others was never known.  Two names that already pre-exist the annals of Fantasy Fantasy.  For today:  We see The Horsemen of Apokolips do battle with The Murderflies.

Alia Atreides takes command of the ten Bene Gesserit Reverend Mothers at her disposal.  Some of them over five times her biological age.  Barely a young woman in numerical years, Alia possesses lifetimes of knowledge that far surpass the ten seasoned women under her command.  They move towards Darla Dudley first.  The Reverend Mothers throw themselves into battle; but the speedster is too much for them as the youngest member of the Shazam family quickly dispatches two of them and then a third.  Alia moves in towards Darla next breaking flank with the other Mothers.  Unphased by her opponent's speed Alia draws her two blades and moves into action.  With a crysknife in one hand and a golden hilted ceremonial blade of The Atreides in her left, Alia showcases not that she is a half breed warrior; but that she is both fully Fremen and fully Atreides.  She brutally slices into the throat, chest, and eyes of the girl about her age while also seeing a vision of the future.  She knows that someday her methods will be viewed by some as grotesque.  A thing to be feared, an abomination, a goddess of a brutal, Universe wide Jihad.  She looks down at the body of her first victim, knowing the eyes of the other Reverend Mothers are upon her as she whispers:  "They will call me St. Alia of the Knife".

Thor never backs down from a challenge and sees that there is a run on Shazam Family members.  Two attack him at once and the god of Thunder welcomes the challenge.  Eugene Choi follows the lead of Capt. Marvel Jr. As they attempt to flank Thor from both the front and back.  Capt. Marvel Jr. Moving swiftly in his Shazam (Jr.) form is quite different then his powerless version crippled by The evil Captain Nazi (yes, that really is his comic book origin).  C.M. Jr. begins to grapple with Thor, but despite his super strength, finds himself no match for Odin's son.  Thor pushes the young hero away and throws his mighty hammer in his general direction.  C.M. Jr. ducks but Thor moves in fast to grab him with his bare hands, holding him up over his head and then bringing the youngster down on his knee with a ground shaking back breaker.  Thor then ducks as well as his mighty hammer attempts to return to him, causing Mjolnir to strike Eugen Choi as he was sneaking up behind.

Dormamu squares up against Ganondorf thinking that his fiery magic will make quick work of what appears to be a medieval simpleton.  But Ganon, with the power of two Infinity Stones aiding his own makes short work of the magical demon by showing him what manipulation of dark magic truly looks like.

Shazam, none too happy with the way these mere flies of murder who have thus far dispatched some his young family is trying to move through the battlefield towards some of those who have taken their lives.  Although, he is first held up by The Indigo Lantern Munk.  Not held up for long though as he sends a blast of concentrated power through the former counterpart to Indigo One that blasts through not only his energy field and aura; but through his very body as well.

Colleen and Sue hit the dunes of Dune hard on their 3 Wheelers, kicking up enough dirt to make even the FFL Nerds want a shower.  They roll up side by side and give each other a nod as they perfectly hit a rock outcropping.  Using it as a ramp, they fly into the air and land perfectly on the back of The Chattari Leviathon.  Once on its back they leap off of the 3 Wheelers and let the machines crash into the back of the Leviathon's neck.  They nod to each other again, knowing that this is a suicide mission, while Sue pulls out her 12 Gauge Pump Shottie and Colleen grabs the Neener from behind the counter at Sandy's.  They both start blasting Devito from Always Sunny style and yell "JUST LIKE F****** SAIGON, HUH SLICK"?!!? As they watch The massive Chittari start to fall from the sky to its death.  They are overjoyed in accomplishment as the legendary creature begins to fall.  I am sure it had nothing to do with the massive artillery blasts to its underbelly from The M-1 Abrams Tank down below.

Paul Atreides moves through the sands of Arrakis as if he was born into the ways of Dune.  Although he does it faster than even the most fit and prime shape Fremen.  He is approached by a young man of insignificant build by the name of Pedro who yells the immortal word "SHAZAM" and changes shape like no Face Dancer Paul has ever witnessed before.  Usul thinks to himself that such power and vibration is sure to summon many large Makers to this battle before the day is done.  Is he seeing the future with these thoughts; or simply helping to bring about the events that will inevitably cause them, he wonders to himself.  The Young Pena moves at Paul with an inhuman swiftness and is shocked to see this thin, almost boyish featured man move not only with a similar swiftness; but also with a methodical and strategic motion unmatched even by what he has seen done by Black Adam, Mary Marvel, or even Shazam himself.  Pedro begins to focus his energy into a blast to be aimed at his opponent; but Maud Dib rolls into the sands, barely disturbing a grain and focuses his Weirding Ways effortlessly into Pedro, shattering his spine.

As The Five Massive Lions fly through the air, the blue Lion blasts apart Kamek and his landspeeder before materializing a massive sword and merging to form Voltron.  While this is happening nearby, The Red Duke himself, one of the masterminds behind the Murderflies strategy for today, activates his shield; but not before firing several shots of his lasgun towards a beautiful young woman on the opposing side.  It is yet unclear if or how the lasgun would have affected Black Lantern Supergirl; but regardless, she swiftly dodged the blasts, took flight, and then swooped back down to obliterate Duke Leto Atreides into the sands, Holtzman Shield and all.

Count Glossu Rabban, the Beast himself and one of the only known men to ever hunt and murder a Sandworm puts into the ground his stolen thumper in an attempt to bring forth one of the massive worms.  The Na-Baron revels in the chaos and destruction this act may bring forth.  He-Man approaches atop his steed Battle Cat wondering what this more fat than muscular fiend is up to.  Rabban cocks the massive modified lasgun designed for killing Shai Halud himself and takes a pot shot towards He-Man, blasting his steed out from under him and killing Battle Cat.  He-Man rolls with the hit and leaps back into action.  The furious Eternian gives Rabban no time for celebration as he cleaves him in two with his battle axe.

As the five Terrorcons merge to form The Mighty Abominus a grizzled Sardakaur from an ancient French bloodline, who goes simply by Mike tries to buy some time for his Decepticon allies from Black Lantern Apocalypse.  Sardakaur #1A, the original Murderfly pulls the razor sharp wire from his scalp, leaps into action, and squeezes the wire like an old fashioned Cosa Nostra of ancient earth.  He actually draws some blood from the ancient Egyptian Mutant before Apocalypse drives his body head first into sand that is no longer soft at that velocity.  Abominus, using all of its combined might moves in fast to take advantage of the short diversion that their tiny teammate Mike Murderfly gave them.  Apocalypse grows to twice his normal size; but is still dwarfed by the Decepticon Gestalt who is relentlessly pounding the mutant.  They push Apocalypse into the sand which he is all too familiar with; but are unable to permanently kill him as his black lantern abilities continue to regenerate the animated corpse.  It isn't until the spice melange mixes with the cybertronian energon spewing from the damaged hull of Abominus that the black lantern energy is dissipated and the already dead Apocalypse dies for good.  The explosion caused from the destruction of such a powerful Mutant blew the monstrous Gestalt apart killing Hun-Gurr, Ripper Snapper, and Twinstrike, leaving the remaining Terrorcons damaged but still functioning.

Tlaloc, the mightiest of the original Titan Cymeks and there once leader unleashes a wave of vicious artillery at Shazam who is still on a mission of vengeance towards these Killer Insects that have laid waste to several of his young siblings.  Shazam blasts into the atmosphere above the arid air and comes back down like a very bolt of lightning that he can control.  His body rockets into the center of the massive being that looks like a killer robot; but in so doing destroys the ancient human brain that controls him.

Mary Marvel stands in the sandy ground, a bit more composed then her brother/boyfriend (depending on the writer); but just as ready.  She stands ready for the M-1 Abrams Tank rolling her way with the Hrethgir hanging off the side of it as literal human protection for the reinforced steel tank.  Mary hits the sand with a blast to uproot the tank and flip it completely over.  The damage would have most likely been enough; but BL Supergirl decided to fly by with a strafing run of heat vision to literally add fuel to the fire.  The Hrethgir were flung from the tank, killing two thirds of them.  As for the three combatants inside the tank, only Chester Cheetah was fast enough to escape the aftermath.

The three remaining Terrorcons square up against the much smaller BL Supergirl and He-Man; but they are not to be taken lightly.  Supergirl puts a hole through the center of Blight with a healthy blast of heat vision, and then flies directly through the center of Ravage, while He-Man leaps into the air to punch the head off of Windrazor before grabbing a hold of Chester and skinning the Cheetah in recompense for his own fallen feline.  Alia leads the remaining Reverend Mothers and Hrethgir and has no problem letting them take the brunt of the Shazam family's resident Huzz Baddie.  In fact, they take more then the brunt as not a single one of the combatants remains after Mary Marvel has her way with them.  Alia runs in fast, placing her hand on the head of Marvel, showing her a glimpse of horrors from human history that no mortal should see.  Alia then takes advantage of Mary's frightened and vulnerable state.  As she returns to her human form, Alia shoves her crysknife under the chin of Mary to insure a minimal loss of blood like any good Fremen would.  Thor and Voltron both move towards Shazam in a two on one battle that he certainly cannot handle; but Shazam drives lightning into the ground to bring a sandworm to the surface.  Voltron is able to take flight and escape the enormous Maker; but in doing so retreats far enough away to allow Shazam to take on Thor One V. One.  Now, I would venture to say that Thor would most likely beat Shazam in most one on one confrontations.  In fact, I supported the vote of Thor over Shazam back in the famous, or perhaps infamous Marvel Vs. DC crossover all those decades ago.  But that wasn't Fantasy Fantasy, they aren't going to pray before this match-up, and that time Shazam hadn't just watched most of his family die.  The two gods begin by grappling and find that they are just as evenly matched in that arena as they are with their power over thunder and lightning.  Thor reclaims his hammer after losing it and throws it at Shazam, but Capt. Marvel punches the hammer away and then screams "SHAZAM" unleashing more power then he ever has in a last ditch effort to take Thor out of the equation and keep The Horsemen in the cat bird's seat of this match.  The very flesh of the Asgardian burns off as Shazam is able to end the life of the heir to the throne of all of Midgard.  Shazam, now weakened sees that Voltron, the massive inter-galactic protector is fast approaching.  Voltron brings his skyscraper sized sword down on Shazam who catches it between his two palms.  Capt. Marvel fights with every iota of his remaining strength to hold back the sword; but eventually even his incalculable strength gives way as the sword of Votron slices through the body of Billy Batson.  Ganondorf is berating Paul Atreides with myriad forms of dark magic attacks, while the much smaller Paul is doing his best to evade the villain and get in as many small hits as possible to chip away at Ganon (you know like the end sequence of that one Zelda Game (you know the one I am talking about)).  Link, err....  I mean Paul is able to redirect the power pf Ganon, who has now taken on the form of a huge monster and then use his magically enhanced blade to deal the killing blow to Ganondorf.

As the last remaining combatants of each squad gather together, they both prepare for the final push of the skirmish.  BL Supergirl takes flight to meet Voltron head on in the cloudless skies.  Supergirl hits the right hand of Voltron with a potent blast of black lantern enhanced freeze breath which causes the massive robot to drop its most powerful weapon.  Voltron via his five pilots redirect their elemental powers inward then blasting outward at Supergirl from its mounted laser cannons as she is attempting a full scale assault.  The combined cosmic elements of the green and red jaw blade cannons are able to destroy the black lantern; but the sheer Kryptonian blast causes the two pilots and their lions to join Supergirl in death.  The Blue Lion and its pilot Lance are also taken out by the destruction of the whole, leaving only the Black and Yellow Lions free flying and detached.

With a massive leap into the air, He-Man jumps onto the back of The Yellow Lion, while The Black Lion and leader flies in quickly to help out his remaining teammate; but He-Man hurls the Sword of Power into the mouth of The Black Lion causing it to self destruct before he drives his mighty fists into the back of the head of The Yellow Lion to take that one out as well.  He-Man somersaults to the ground, pulling his axe and shield to defend against any remaining Murderflies when he is surrounded by Paul and his sister Alia.  The two much smaller Murderflies are no match for the pure strength of the last remaining Horseman; but they make up for that disadvantage with superior speed.  Alia hears the voice of Paul in her head telling her:

"You are small, he will expect you to go low".

As she hears the telepathic voice of the brother whose entire past she was made aware of in the womb of their mother, she sees from the corner of her blue within blue eye the speedy shadow of Paul moving to attack below the belt of He-Man towards a potential weak spot between his axe and shield.  Alia leaps into the air with a full body flip and drives her dual blades into the neck of He-Man from above and behind his head, using her weirding ways to break his rock hard skin before entry.  As she comes down from her acrobatic maneuver, she both sees and feels from within the blood of her brother falling upon the very dunes of Arrakis.

Some things never change.  This league will always find subtle ways to repeat itself.  There is no other way if the outcome is to be respected.  But then again sometimes the unbelievable does take place.  Sometimes The Murderflies even defeat The Horsemen.

Heeeell yeah that was good stuff. I can't believe Kyle "The True Paul" McLachlan killed Ganondorf but I'm all for it. Psychic baby killing He-Man? Even cooler.

Fuckin' giant robots are always cool. Fuckin' Voltron, sick. Almost as cool as Space Runaway Ideon.
